To Do LIst

Loving your life should be on your to-do list. What do you need to do to embrace that your life is a beautiful gift that you have the privilege of unwrapping each day? Here a few suggestions that will help you in this process:

The first thing to do is to be grateful. Take a deep breath and absorb everything that comes with this ability. How does it feel to inhale and exhale existence?

Secondly, look in the mirror and thank God for every experience you have had that has created the beautiful reflection staring back at you.

Lastly, choose joy. Joy is a choice. Decide to laugh, maybe even skip! Stop the sad saunter and look up! That is where you are headed, and loving your life will uplift you to your next level of appreciation for yourself. Every challenge will pull out your inner strength, each disappointment will drive you to expose your bouncebackability, and if there are betrayals, you will know how to be a better friend. Every problem is an opportunity to validate your victory mindset.
You are a unique expression chosen to encounter God’s goodness every day of your life.

Mind ThE GAP

May is the month to change your mind and mind the gap. What is standing between you and your destiny? Who you are called to be and your more fulfilling life can be connected through changing your thoughts. You can bridge the gap by changing your mind and thinking right about yourself. Make up your mind that this is your month to move forward and bring your best self into reality.

take A Deep breath

No doubt that you have heard this instruction before at some point in your life. Maybe it was a directive given because you needed to evaluate your response before moving in haste, or you needed to level up in your courage. When the doctor listens to your heart, this is usually the preceding instruction. Deep breathing is a physical way to open your lungs and release the stress that could take root in your heart. Inhale and release! Shallow breathing is usually our baseline breathing. We have to remember to use the total capacity of our lungs by taking deep breaths.

Deep breaths awaken you to life, internally and externally. Take in the air around you and remember the importance of fresh air. Mindfulness is taking a moment to recognize you are alive! Be intentional with this practice and welcome peace into your heart while being aware of the pace you are maintaining in your daily life. Have you taken a deep breath lately? Take this challenge to fill up your lungs and release your breath into the atmosphere in a conscionable way.

Take a Deep Breath!

FORgiving Yourself

Forgiving yourself allows you to forge ahead with the grace of release. Releasing yourself from behavior you are not proud of will help you to grow in the understanding that who you are in this moment, outweighs what you did in the past.

Celebrate yourself for giving yourself the opportunity to grow and change. Self-forgiveness is internal mercy that allows you to grow and evolve through an evaluation that leads you to a better self.

Fear Cannot Rule

Mental Wellness is affected by the fear-based approach to life. When we are more influenced and driven by our fears, we live in a constant state of underachievement and anxiety, which abuses our mental hygiene. How well you manage negative fear-based thoughts affects your progression in life. Fear keeps us bound and often boundaryless. If you are afraid of adverse outcomes from your actions, you will be indecisive and let life lead you instead of directing your experience. If you are scared to say no to others and focus on always pleasing others, you will limit yourself by the opinions of others.

There is an adage that says, “you treat people how to treat you.” I want to add to that by stating, “you let fear know how much it can push you around based on your response to it.” The more we respond to fear, the more we invite it to take over. There is normal, appropriate fear, such as whether or not to ride a roller coaster or spiders. So, if you are at an amusement park, you must decide to ride or hold the bags of someone who does. If this thought of getting on the roller coaster consumes you and your constant thought becomes all of the bad things that can happen to you if you get on, then you have given the fear control.

Having a fear of spiders could be very typical. It may not be as harmless if the vision of a spider terrifies you or causes you to begin to go out of your way to avoid making contact with one. Then you could be experiencing a phobia such as arachnophobia. Phobias can cause irrational thoughts and allow fear to have a seat on the throne of your life.

Have you ever allowed fear to control you? Fear tends not to be a guest. If you invite fear into your life, it will become the host, and you will be led around by it. Fear controls, although it may appear comforting if it becomes habitual.

Have you allowed fear to rule your decisions or guide your life?
Now is the time to put fear in its proper place!

Do that

Often we focus on the areas of our life that are grueling. We constantly focus on what we need to do, the tasks we must accomplish, and the routine assignments of life that seem to be never-ending. I recently told a friend of mine that laundry is never finished because as soon as you celebrate your completion, another load somehow makes its way into the hamper. The process starts over once again. My point is that the tasks and responsibilities will always be there. There will always be something that you must do. What about the things that you enjoy doing? Have you done something today that made you smile?

Smiling is good for our mental wellness. When we participate in activities that cause us to grin, our perception of the day changes. It would be best to allow yourself time to do something you enjoy, something that makes you happy. Whatever that activity is…do that. Don’t deprive yourself of joy by focusing on all of your must-do’s each day. Set daily reminders that you must do something fun, relaxing, or enjoyable. Yes, the more you do for yourself that edifies and strengthens you for what is ahead, the more you think right about you!

MIND-FULL

Mindfulness is the practice of keeping your mind at peace and focused. It is the ability to discipline your thoughts and prevent them from running wild. Have you ever let your mind wander and realized that time eluded you and your purpose at the moment was forgotten? Did you worry yourself sick over recurring and constant thoughts about what if?

The what-ifs of life can take us into a downward spiral and quickly lead us into disparaging thoughts if we are not mindful.

Today, I want to encourage you to keep your mind full of God. This means that your thoughts will be filled with peace and joy. Your mind will be at rest, and your heart will be happy! When stressful thoughts try and press your mind and turn your focus to chaotic rhythms of doubt, redirect your attention to a loving God who already has that worry answered and under control.

Keep your mind full of Him!
