Hello, Daughter of Day!
Let’s continue with our breakdown of the word B.E.L.I.E.V.E. This acronym was given to me in a reflective prayer. After we completed our journey of belief for our son’s healing, I looked back to determine the steps that we took to come out as conquerors. Each letter has an action step that we embraced during the process.
I want to share this acronym with you so that you can be encouraged as you wait for what you are believing for to come to pass! So far we have looked at the B and the first E. It’s time to find out the meaning of L. The L in B.E.L.I.E.V.E. stands for Longsuffering.
At first, longsuffering was not a word I was very fond of, especially as we were believing that we were coming out of this stressful situation with our son. I did some more research on the word and the findings blessed me and gave me the courage to continue in belief.
Colossians 1:11 says that we are “strengthened with all might according to His glorious power, for all patience and long-suffering with joy”. My first realization was that as we are believing for something to come to pass that is taking longer than we would like, it does not mean that we do not keep our joy intact! We also get to exercise patience which is a great practice. Patience is a fruit of the spirit that strengthens us in other areas of our lives as well.
The definition of long-suffering is stated as “long and patient endurance”. No matter what you are embarking upon in life, endurance is necessary if you plan to arrive at your desired goal. You cannot give up during the process. Is what you are believing to come to pass worth enduring for? If you can’t endure maybe what you are believing for is not truly a desire of yours.
The biggest problem I had with the word longsuffering being in the process of believing was simply the word ‘long’! We are sometimes okay enduring for a short amount of time but as the time increases, we may become discouraged. However, true endurance sets its sight on the outcome and determines not to waver or give up. As I determined if I could endure throughout the process, I heard this in my spirit, “Long-suffering means to wait as long as it takes and determine to believe!”
That was my aha moment! At this moment I made peace with longsuffering being a part of the process. Longsuffering is not about the time frame but the frame of mind!
As you continue to believe in that business, marriage, book to be published etc. determine to endure and wait as long as it takes with a positive frame mindset!
Thank you that your daughters have a desire within them to believe for the vision inside of them to manifest. Release the gift of patience and long-suffering to them so that the fruits of your spirit will be evident in their lives. When they become weary, remind them of the joy they will have when the mission is accomplished. Give them a taste of that joy now as they endure to the end. Amen.
